ON “APPLYING YOUR HEART TO UNDERSTANDING”

As referred to in Proverbs 2:2; it implies putting maximum effort. The heart must be used to understanding. It won’t occur coincidentally. This wisdom, discernment, and understanding must be searched out as though it were gold and hidden treasures. John Trapp said: “Attention of body, the intention of mind, and retention of memory, are indispensably desired of all wisdom’s scholars; such as King Edward VI, who constantly stood up at the hearing of the word, took notes, which he afterwards diligently perused, and wrought the sermon upon his affections by meditation.”
