Habitual Sin
“And you know that Jesus came to take away our sins, and there is no sin in him.”(1 John 3:5) THEREFORE, “Anyone who continues to live in him will not sin. But anyone who keeps on sinning does not know him or understand who he is.”
Present tense in the Greek; habitual sin implying continuous or habitual action of disobeying. A true Christian does not live in habitual sin. Oh, yes, we do commit acts of sin, but sin, as a life lived independently of God, cannot be the habit of our lives! To abide in Christ is more than to be in Him, since it represents a condition maintained by communion with God and by the habitual doing of His will. (John 15:4-10; 1 John 2:6) Praise God!
