STRENGTH IN THE PROMISE

STRENGTH IN THE PROMISE

“I have commanded you, ‘Be strong and courageous! Don’t tremble or be terrified, because Yahweh your Elohim is with you wherever you go.’”.” (Joshua 1:9, NOG).

Introduction:

Brothers and sisters, today’s message is both a comfort and a challenge—Stay strong, be happy, and courageous. These qualities are not just aspirations but commands from God, rooted deeply in His Promises and Faithfulness.

Main Points:

1. Strength in God’s Faithfulness:

The story of Joshua and the Israelites as they prepared to enter the Promised Land is a testament to the power of staying strong in God’s Promise. Joshua’s strength came from his unwavering confidence in God’s Faithfulness.

We, too, are called to lean on God’s Faithfulness. When challenges arise, remember that God has never and will never abandon His Promises.

2. Finding Joy Amid Trials:

Happiness sometimes feels fleeting, especially when we face trials. However, true joy in the Lord is different from temporary happiness. It is an enduring state that comes from recognizing God’s Presence in our lives.

Reflect on Paul’s letters from prison; despite hardship, he encouraged others to “Rejoice in the Lord always” (Philippians 4:4). Joy in the Lord is not dependent on circumstances but on our relationship with Him.

3. Courage Through Trust:

Courage is not the absence of fear but the decision to trust God despite the fear. King David, in Psalm 27:1, declares, “The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?” His trust in God overshadowed his fears.

Our courage is fortified through trust. Remember that God’s Strength is made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). When our strength falters, His Power carries us through.

In conclusion, in every season of life, especially in times of uncertainty, God calls us to be strong, joyous, and courageous. These virtues are not birthed from our own capabilities but from our reliance on God’s everlasting promises. As we walk this journey, let us embody the strength and courage that come from trusting Him wholeheartedly.

Call to Action:

Let’s commit this week to meditate on God’s Promises. Each day, take a moment to reflect on the faithfulness of God, find reasons to rejoice in His Truth, and step out in courage, knowing that the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
