ON “DOING ENOUGH”
Can we ever do enough despite being on the edge of eternity, despite been saved from sins and set free to serve God? Yes, we might be living day in and day out of endlessness – yet that ought not to make us terrible. The early Christians cheered to imagine that the apocalypse was close, as they suspected. Is it accurate to say that we are so unready to face God? It is safe to say that we are so eager for delights here that we see so obscurely those to come? Are we doing enough in all divinities? Are we doing enough in acquiring and living in every divine virtue? Are we doing enough in praise and worshipping? Are we doing enough in advancing righteousness and faith wherever we are? In all this, I remind you of this: “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” (Phillippians 4:8, NLT)
